The Frankie & Benny Story
Frankie Giuliani was 10 years old when, withhis Mamma and Poppa, he left Sicily and landed atEllis Island, New York in 1924. They moved inwith relatives in Brooklyn’s “Little Italy”, apredominately Italian neighbourhood. Poppa soonfound work, but from the home country he’d broughta little money and a lot of ambition.
It was no surprise then, when the family opened arestaurant within a year, everybody helping with thebuilding and the cooking in equal measure. Each ofthem had a favourite dish to contribute, but it wasMamma’s home-style cooking that was the base fromwhich the business prospered.
Frankie went to the nearby High School andbecame lifetime friends with Benny, already a thirdgeneration American. In 1953 Poppa retired andFrankie and Benny took over the business, combiningthe best of popular American food with traditionalItalian dishes.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Frankie & Benny's bring together the best of classic American and Italian in both style and cuisine. They specialise in home-style cooking “just like Mamma used to make it!” It’s a great place to take the entire family and represents excellent value for money. Walking into Frankie & Benny's is like stepping back into 1950s New York, from the clatter and chatter of the open kitchen to the bottle lined bar. Cosy booth seating and tables are surrounded by walls filled with family snapshots showing life in Brooklyn’s “Little Italy”. Combined with the classic 50s music, a mix of American swing and beat, they definitely provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy!
For children up to the age of ten, an all inclusive menu is available featuring Frankie & Benny's very own Gangster Mice! For just £3.95, your child can choose from a great selection of main courses, desserts and soft drinks. As an added treat they’ll also receive a kid’s pack full of activities and stackable crayons to entertain them whilst you eat.
Frankie & Benny's offers a range of succulent starters, mouth watering meals and delicious desserts. Favourites include char-grilled burgers, pizzas, pastas and house specialities such as chicken parmigiana, risotto and T-Bone steak. The bar serves a wide range of beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.
